Sunday Sermon Devotional – Sermon by Pastor Peter Clow
Day 1: God Owns It All
Scripture: Psalm 24:1-2; Genesis 1:1
Thoughts:
Everything we have—our time, talents, and treasures—belongs to God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. Recognizing His ownership is the foundation of stewardship. When we embrace this truth, it shifts our perspective from possessiveness to gratitude. We begin to see our resources as tools for advancing God’s kingdom rather than personal assets. This mindset leads to contentment and trust, knowing that God will provide as we honor Him.
Reflection & Action:
-
Take a moment to list the blessings God has entrusted to you (time, abilities, finances, relationships).
-
Pray and ask God to help you see these gifts as His, not yours.
-
How can you better honor God with what He has given you?
Day 2: God Made Us Stewards
Scripture: Genesis 1:26-30; Matthew 5:16
Thoughts:
From the very beginning, God created us in His image and gave us dominion over His creation. We are called to be fruitful, multiply, and manage His resources wisely. Stewardship isn’t just about finances—it’s about using all we have for His glory. Whether it’s our influence, time, or abilities, we are to invest them in ways that reflect His goodness. The way we handle our responsibilities, relationships, and resources should point others to Christ. Every decision we make with what God has given us should be guided by His wisdom and purpose.
Reflection & Action:
-
What specific gifts has God given you to manage?
-
How can you be more intentional about using them to glorify God?
-
Write down one practical way you will “let your light shine” this week.
Day 3: We Will Give an Account
Scripture: Matthew 25:14-30; Romans 14:12
Thoughts:
The parable of the talents reminds us that stewardship is not optional. One day, we will stand before God and give an account of how we managed His resources. The faithful stewards were rewarded, while the one who hid his talent was condemned. God calls us to multiply what He has given us, not to bury it in fear or neglect. It is easy to make excuses for inaction, but God desires that we trust Him and step forward in faith. Our faithfulness in small things leads to greater opportunities for impact in His kingdom.
Reflection & Action:
-
Are you actively using what God has entrusted to you, or are you “burying” it?
-
What fears or excuses have been holding you back? Consider the unfaithful steward, he had a poor view of the master. This view caused his fear and moved him to judge the master. How does your view of God hold you back?
-
Take one bold step today to invest your gifts for God’s kingdom.
Day 4: Stewardship Requires Our Lives
Scripture: Romans 12:1-2
Thoughts:
True stewardship isn’t just about money—it’s about surrendering our entire lives to God. Paul urges us to offer ourselves as “living sacrifices,” meaning every aspect of our lives should be dedicated to His will. This requires transformation, a renewed mind, and a heart fully submitted to God. When we live for Him, we become effective stewards of all He has entrusted to us. A true steward seeks to align their decisions with God’s desires, prioritizing His kingdom over personal gain. This level of surrender may not always be easy, but it is the pathway to joy and eternal reward.
Reflection & Action:
-
Are there areas of your life you have not fully surrendered to God?
-
What worldly influences might be keeping you from being fully transformed?
-
Pray and ask God to renew your mind and help you align your life with His will.
Day 5: Be Fruitful & Multiply
Scripture: Genesis 1:28; Matthew 5:16
Thoughts:
God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply” extends beyond having children—it includes multiplying His kingdom through faithful stewardship. When we use our time, talents, and treasures wisely, we advance His mission. A faithful steward doesn’t just maintain; they invest and grow what God has given them. Just as a farmer plants and nurtures seeds expecting a harvest, we must cultivate what God has entrusted to us. By faithfully stewarding our resources, we impact lives, spread the gospel, and bring glory to God.
Reflection & Action:
-
How can you invest in someone else’s life today—through encouragement, teaching, or generosity?
-
Identify one area where you can “multiply” what God has given you.
-
Pray and ask God to help you live as a faithful steward, bearing fruit for His glory.
Final Encouragement:
Stewardship is about faithfulness. It’s not about how much we have but how we use what God has entrusted to us. May we all live in a way that one day, we will hear the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
